Participate in shared research and writing projects (e.g., read a number of books on a single topic to produce a report; record science observations).

Second graders have already tackled group work by way of expressing opinions and reading informational texts together. But this standard addresses the holy grail of second grade work: the report. 

Start small, but make sure they're prepared for small research projects by the time they get to third grade.
