Young writers have been tackling standards on constructive criticism since kindergarten, but the second grade equivalent introduces them to the concept of revising and editing. In previous standards, students were simply asked to answer questions from peers and to add details. The ability to revise their own work will take practice, but by the time they have to face the dreaded, yet all-too-common, do-over on a college paper, they'll be prepared.
