Physical Danger
Physical danger in the podiatric world, although slight, can come from a couple of sources. First, you never know what's going to be under that sock, and some diseases or maladies may be contagious. There always exists the possibility of a knee-jerk reaction to your treatment, ending with a swift kick to your sternum (or worse) from your patient.
Care must be taken in the handling and disposal of any contaminated medical equipment, as is true for any medical profession. Scalpels, needles, and other sharp tools have the potential to ruin your day…and beyond.
Outside of these extreme cases, the professional life of a podiatrist can be considered relatively safe and should injury occur, you can simply walk it off.
