George Lucas

George Lucas, the man with a thumb in every pie when it comes to Star Wars, was the main screenwriter for Revenge of the Sith. That's not surprising; he's the one who conceptualized the entire Star Wars mythology back in 1974, inspired by Flash Gordon comic books and the Planet of the Apes films.

Just as Middle-earth was a world built inside Tolkien's impressive brain, the epic tale revolving around Luke Skywalker and the Galactic Empire was totally conceived by Lucas. Originally written as a serial installment series for kids, Star Wars eventually evolved into a full-length feature film that blew everyone away with its groundbreaking special effects. (Source)

For this movie in particular, it was rumored that Lucas had a bit of help from famed playwright Tom Stoppard, but Revenge of the Sith is pure Lucas. His style is largely characterized by simplistic sentence structure spoken in short declarative statements that clearly elaborate whatever theme or idea that he wants to convey. For Lucas, the script stays unaffected so that the incredible digital scenery can take primacy. But, some people don't think that's such a hot idea. Lucas can do CGI, but maybe he needs a little help in the ol' dialogue department. Peter Travers, a longtime Star Wars fan and reviewer for Rolling Stone wrote:

If only for the original Wars, Lucas deserves a place in film history. He transformed pop culture into Pop Art. Lucas' major error was believing he could do it all alone. With Empire — now officially the best of the Wars six — Lucas had the invaluable help of screenwriters Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark) and Leigh Brackett (The Big Sleep), and director Irvin Kershner, who knew how to loosen up actors. Even though some critics think that the script may be the weak point of Revenge of the Sith, it does get the job done … and, as fans, we're just thankful he finally gave us the opportunity to see Anakin Skywalker evolve into the dastardly Darth Vader.
