Adaku to Nnu Ego

Adaku is the perfect contrast to Nnu Ego. She willingly comes to Lagos to be Nnaife's bride. Though the marriage fails, she adopts more Western values, and becomes an independent, self-sufficient woman. Though she still enjoys male companionship, she is not dependent on any man for her rent, food, or other bills. In fact, she enjoys far greater wealth as an independent woman than Nnu Ego, whose profits are eaten up by her husband and children's needs and wants.
