Character Analysis
Graff runs the Battle School, but Anderson runs the game that’s at the heart of the school – and he’s a little obsessed. When Graff tells him to come up with unfair situations to throw at Ender, Anderson points out that the game is “status, identity, purpose, name” for these kids (8.11). Still, while he sometimes doubts Graff (heck, everyone in the International Fleet does), he mostly goes along with it. And bonus: he ends up as the football commissioner of Earth. Otherwise, he’s here mostly just so Graff isn’t doing all the work at the Battle School.
