Figure Analysis
After killing Pekahiah, Pekah rules in Israel for twenty years. Yet once more (not to repeat it over and over again, but we need to) he turns out to be a bad king, who follows the sins of Jeroboam. But the king of Assyria, Tiglath-Pileser, captures huge numbers of the Israelite population and carries them away to Assyria. In the resulting turmoil, Hoshea son of Elah leads a conspiracy against Pekah, kills him, and takes the throne.
