Common Core Standards
Grade 6
Reading RL.6.10
By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, in the grades 6-8 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
Can your student read without needing to stop every five minutes and asking "what does this mean"? If you answered yes to this question, then you've pretty much covered this standard. However, because the students are sixth graders, they probably should be stopped every ten minutes or so for a reading comprehension check (which is what that scaffolding refers to).
