Common Core Standards
Grade 6
Language L.6.3
Use knowledge of language and its conventions when writing, speaking, reading, or listening.
Have you heard of Gary Provost's prose poem called "This Sentence Has Five Words"? Yeah. Just show students that and have them take it to heart, and the first sub-standard should be covered. Oh, don't forget to teach them not to flip flop between different types of style or tone in the middle of a paragraph or an essay.
P.S. If your students need to brush up on their spelling and grammar, send 'em over to our Grammar Learning Guides so they can hone their skills before conquering the Common Core.
