This campaign is your baby, and you'll be in charge of every aspect of it. It's okay to be a control freak, but try not to terrorize your lowly army of loyal servants. You may also be able to exert influence over non-campaign areas, if you enter the murky realm of "I'll scratch your back, if you scratch mine."
Some organizations will be willing to give you their support in exchange for considerations down the line, and the road to a landslide election can be paved with campaign promises. Maybe the Parent Teacher Association will throw their weight behind you if you promise to install that citywide curfew. Just be sure not to cross the boundary between benefiting the community and selling your candidate's soul.
