Odds of Hanging On
You've made your way into the highly competitive field of marine biology, and you're feeling as pleased as punch with yourself for getting that research job in Hawaii. Or maybe you're patting yourself on the back for getting on tenure track at the Woods Hole oceanic institute where you suffered as an intern years ago.
Assuming that your funding isn't eliminated, or that your company doesn't go belly-up, or that you don't go belly-up in an estuary where you're tracking the feeding habits of leopard seals, you'll probably do okay.
