Odds of Getting In
The good news? There are plenty of jobs available in this field, so you shouldn't have any trouble breaking into this profession. The bad news? The reason so many jobs are available is because turnover tends to be high. Some of the reasons for throwing in the towel (literally) include:
- Low wages. Janitors are famous for making very little money despite the hard work they put in each day.
- Boredom. While this job can be physically demanding, mental stimulation is lacking.
- Exhaustion. Janitors are always on their feet, using their strength and stamina to complete an endless list of physically demanding tasks. At one point or another, burnout becomes inevitable.
