But in reality, “Oceania” is a continent made up of Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji,

as well as some Asian islands like Taiwan, and Northern islands like the Aleutians. [Places shown on a map]

…Except…sometimes Australia’s not included.

…and then sometimes it doesn’t include Taiwan or the Philippines.

Or maybe it does include Australia, but not Taiwan and the Philippines.

Turns out, scientists sorta disagree on exactly how to define Oceania. [Students looking confused]

Because the people of Oceania mainly live on islands separated by lots of water, each [Fijians stood on the beach]

In fact, there are more than 28 officially recognized languages in Oceania.

That’s because 33,000 years ago, the only people living in Oceania lived in those regions.

Today, of course, Oceania is home to millions of people. [Lots of people walking around]
