When drawing creatures like the Lorax, Whos and Zooks, Seuss would sign his name Dr. Theophrastic Seuss. It sounded like a more scientifically distinguished title, and hey, maybe folks would think that Zooks really do exist. (Source.)
What's in a name? More names, it turns out. Although we know him as Dr. Seuss, and his official biography lists him as Theodor Seuss Geisel, to his friends and family, he was just Ted. (Source.)
In terms of romantic workspaces, Dr. Seuss had it made. In 1984, he and his wife purchased an old observation tower, which Seuss would work in for at least eight hours a day.
