Mademoiselle Reisz

Mademoiselle Reisz give Edna advice and wisdom such as: "To succeed, the artist must possess the courageous soul." Mademoiselle Reisz opens up her home and her heart to Edna, allowing Edna a safe space for self-exploration. The two are extremely truthful with each other.

For example, Mademoiselle Reisz doesn’t believe Edna likes her, and says so. Edna confesses her love for Robert to Mademoiselle Reisz, only to be met with disdain. Mademoiselle Reisz pushes and challenges Edna, while at the same time provides a model for artistic achievement that Edna hopes to emulate.

Alcee Arobin

Arobin is a mentor in that he teaches Edna about physical pleasure, awakening Edna’s sexual side.
