Brain Snacks: Tasty Tidbits of Knowledge
Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia is the fear of the number 666 (source ). Now what's the name for the fear of having to spell that word again?
Revelation is actually the 66th book in the Christian Bible. Really? Now God's just messing with us.
David Koresh claimed to have a vision similar to John's, when he was taken up to Heaven and asked to eat a scroll. To him, that meant, that he "instantaneously and suddenly in a moment understood completely all the mysteries of the Bible." Presumably, he thought he and his followers would be lifted up to Heaven in the last days, not burned alive in their compound in Waco, Texas. (Source.)
Revelation is actually the longest letter in the Bible (source). Sorry, John didn't have time to make it shorter.
In case you're looking to police some grammar, remember that the title of Revelation is not plural. The original Greek word apokalupsis is singular and the English version should follow suit. So the next time you hear someone call it Revelations feel free to point out how very, very wrong and silly they actually are.
