How we cite our quotes: (Chapter. Paragraph)
Quote #4
What you see at fight club is a generation of men raised by women. (6.29)
Women. What are they good for? In the world of Fight Club—not much. The two women in the book represent icky stuff, like emotions and feelings. Ew, cooties. There's no room for estrogen when you're throwing elbows and blowing stuff sky high.
Quote #5
You see a guy come to fight club for the first time, and his ass is a loaf of white bread. You see this same guy here six months later, and he looks carved out of wood. This guy trusts himself to handle anything. (6.45)
No one likes white bread. But we're not sure if we want to be carved out of wood either. Can't we have a happy medium? Say, a nice multi-grain? Here we see how fight club transforms boys into men. White bread is processed and fake. Wood is real, natural, and manly.
