The Solomon Islands are, as you might have guessed, named after Solomon. When Álvaro de Mendaña de Neira got there in 1568, he sort of thought he might have discovered the land from which Solomon gained his vast fortune. He was wrong, but we hear it's a lovely place.

The protagonist in sci-fi legend Isaac Asimov's iconic Robot novels is named Elijah. His wife, ironically, is named Jezebel. Coincidence? We think not.
