You'll most likely see this substandard demonstrated when you have your kids reading aloud (RF.3.4.B). If they barrel through sentences that sound like a word salad with a side of confusion, you'll see that you have a problem. This one's easy to spot and not necessarily easy to fix.
Any students struggling with this issue will benefit from a little intensive work. Stop them when they make mistakes and have them do the correction. Don't let this one slide because we don't want them fighting a set habit.
