Identify words with inconsistent but common spelling-sound correspondences.

The English language just wants to keep us on our toes. This substandard asks second graders to know that words with similar letters may not produce words with similar sounds like hive/give, cost/most, and bear/near. Start drilling some of those tricky word endings like -ough or -eigh, too.
