Glory
A good robot can do things that have never been done before. If you create a robot that's unlike any other, and it solves an as-yet-unsolved problem, then you, by extension, solved that problem. Even if it was the robot's idea. That would actually mean even more glory for you...assuming the robot didn't also go crazy and attack a bunch of people.
There's no world-changing robot that you're likely to create alone, so any credit or awards will be shared with your team; but the glorious feeling of achievement can be personalized. Actually, wait, no—you have to share that, too.
But it's cool; if you've ever won at a team sport, you know how nice it is to share the glory with the folks who helped you get there. Unfortunately, there's not necessarily another team to gloat to, unless you're talking about Battlebots.
