Power
Your patients are your employers. If you work in a facility with multiple psychiatrists, you may technically have another "employer," but your patients are the ones who keep you in business, and who decide when they've gotten out of you all they can get, and ultimately call it quits.
From that standpoint, you have very little power. But when you consider the profound effect you can exert on the lives of others…you can't help but feel a little like Superman.
To most, the mysteries of the human mind are just that—mysteries. But to you, with all your academic know-how and vast internal databank of previous cases, a brain is one nut you're able to crack. To a certain extent, at least.
