Bell Curve
Rookie. Winnings: -$500
You came to Las Vegas with $500 in your back pocket and made it one hand before you shouted all in with a seven-two off suit. You lose. Before returning home to mom and dad with your tail between your legs, you take your time enjoying the complimentary hot dog in the lounge.
Lucky Break. Winnings: $1,500
You've had some brushes with success, and come really close on a couple of small events. Finally, you get some luck on the table in a $1,500 tourney. It's not much, but it convinces you that it's time to quit your day job. Your parents look back on this day as the one when they finally gave up trying to dissuade you.
Card Shark. Winnings: $15,000
You're eking out a meager living by placing small bets for twelve hours a day at your local poker room. It isn't flashy and you'll never make the cover of Awesome Card Player magazine, but it (barely) pays the bills. At least no one cares if you go three weeks without shaving.
High Roller. Winnings: $50,000
You're a rising star in the poker world. You have a few deep finishes on your résumé (just kidding, you don't have a résumé), and name and face recognition are starting to pick up. Your parents still refer to it as your "hobby," but you're way past needing their approval for this game—you've got a fan club for that.
Poker Champion. Winnings: $1,000,000
Sitting with pocket aces and every chip on the line, you show your cards and, just like that, become an instant millionaire. The cameras flash, the crowd erupts, and someone hands you a bracelet and a briefcase full of cash. Also, your parents called; they're wondering when you're coming for a visit.
