Odds of Getting In
Start practicing your yoga early, because you've got to have a lot of patience to become a law professor. Besides needing impeccable credentials, the hiring process for entry-level tenure-track law school teaching positions—the kind where you can't be fired for murder—begins a whole year before the job does. Not only are you up against some stiff competition for only a few positions, but many times those positions are slot-oriented.
You've got to have the particular academic field of interest for the position, and it will have to be more demonstrated than, "I love the Constitution." You'll likely have to move around the country as a one-semester visiting professor for a while. Better start thinking of that mantra.
