Odds of Hanging On
Once you've set sail, you're pretty much in the fishing business until you quit, retire, or head on down to Davy Jones' locker. Fishing crews tend to stick together, and once you're experienced, you shouldn't have much trouble finding a new crew, or if you've been successful, getting your own boat and doing it yourself.
Fishing is also one of those businesses that tends to stay in the family. If you're thinking about doing it, you probably have a relative who does it, and maybe your children will do it too. How's that for job security?
