Even if you're not one of the select few who're able to blow the roof off technology, at least you're still creating—building something truly original from your mind—and you're not just some drone on an assembly line. Even if you have to stick to a strict set of specifications, you're the architect of whatever project you've been assigned to, and there's glory in that. Plus, no one's going to be able to stop you if you've inserted "self-destruct" code into the tail end of a script.
