The science world loves to give people awards. There are tons of awards just for astronomers, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are more astronomy societies than there are stars in the sky (disclaimer: that's not true). Even if you don't get an award, your research projects have the potential to add to or even revolutionize our understanding of the universe. There will be a whole lot of glory in that. 

You're one of the geniuses helping scientific progress...sometimes at least. Sometimes, your research will get us nowhere.
