20-Year Prospect
Worried about losing your job in twenty years? Well, don't. The Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn't predict an increase or decrease in the nation's arbitrators anytime soon (source).
That's because, unlike many of the jobs currently being stolen by robots, software, smartphones, and drones, arbitration is a definitively human occupation. AI isn't anywhere close to handling this sort of work. Don't believe us? Just watch a conversation between modern AI programs and decide for yourself.
So, we know that technology won't be a problem, but how about interest? We're pretty sure that won't be waning anytime soon either. As long as there have been people and money, people have thought that other people's money should be their money. And as long as the court system remains clogged and inefficient, you can rest assured that there'll always be a place for legal minds who specialize in expediency.
