Thank you We sneak in pride in your peers allah

shmoop while bill and ted have been best friends for

like forever No no different bill and ted These two
- 00:12
have had excellent adventures of their own but much lower

local skate park Virtually no historical figures or time travel
- 00:22
involved anyway While the two have plenty in common their
- 00:25
home lives are the furthest thing from similar bill has
- 00:28
parental support coming out of his ears His mother and
- 00:31
father have always attended every little league game every piano
- 00:34
recital so they spend tons of time with him at
- 00:36
home both helping him with his homework and well just
- 00:39
hanging They love into pieces and they make sure he
- 00:41
knows it And man are they proud of him even
- 00:43
when he doesn't do anything all that special You should
- 00:46
have seen the reaction he got when he successfully tied
- 00:48
his shoe laces for the hundredth time But ted oh
- 00:51
poor ted Ted did not win the parental lottery if
- 00:55
it came home one day to tell mom and pop
- 00:57
that he was just presented with the nobel prize for
- 00:59
medicine they'd probably give him a quick that's nice kid
- 01:02
and then turned back to their reality programming Needless to
- 01:05
say ted self esteem is not on overdrive he's been
- 01:08
given the impression his entire life that he's basically worthless
- 01:12
you know inconvenience so he believes it But every once
- 01:15
in a while despite the complete lack of support ted
- 01:17
knocks it out of the park anyway like last tuesday
- 01:19
when he posted the lowest score in the golf team
- 01:21
resulting in a team win Obviously the accomplishment went largely
- 01:25
unacknowledged by most of his classmates since it was just
- 01:28
you know golf and clearly he wasn't going to receive
- 01:31
any accolades from these two So ted look to the
- 01:33
one person who really cared about him to provide him
- 01:36
with a pat on the back He so desperately craved
- 01:39
his best bud phil but feel let him down give
- 01:42
him a quick nice work and then invited him downstairs
- 01:44
so he gets you off his newest xbox game more
- 01:46
than anything his parents had ever done to him This
- 01:49
crush ted at least with mom and dad he'd been
- 01:51
used to it expected it but what was bill's deal
- 01:54
Bills deal was that he didn't realise that it was
- 01:56
his place to be there for his friend in quite
- 02:00
that way For bill he'd always gotten so much encouragement
- 02:03
congratulations from his family that he just sort of have
- 02:05
assumed now that's the way it works for everybody what
- 02:08
made it even worse was that Well bill was impressed
- 02:10
by ted's golfing prowess proud of him even but he
- 02:13
didn't say so because you know they're guys and guys
- 02:16
don't go overboard on the distribution of warm fuzzies So
- 02:19
ted spiraled into a deep depression which negatively affected his
- 02:22
golf game and a school work and even is tried
- 02:25
and true friendship with bill By the time bill had
- 02:27
finally realised what itwas the devastated ted so greatly to
- 02:31
were barely speaking and so faced with the alternative of
- 02:33
a ted lis existence phil got over himself and told
- 02:36
ted just how proud of his buddy he really wass
- 02:39
well ted's face lit up like someone had just completed
- 02:41
an electoral circuits he started killing it in his studies
- 02:45
added fifteen yards to his drive and gave his parents
- 02:47
a couple of hugs when he got home Not that
- 02:49
they even noticed the private respect of one's peers can
- 02:52
be a powerful thing After all who understands the journey
- 02:55
were on better than those who are on that same
- 02:57
journey with us Well lesson learned Bill would never again
- 03:00
keep his mouth shut when it was feeling pride in
- 03:02
his friend In fact sometimes he even got a little
- 03:05
too sappy Come on take it down a notch bill 00:03:08.08 --> [endTime] There are girls watching
