Put this in your calculator and shmoop it...

00:05

Which equation has an x intercept at 1?

00:09

And here are the potential answers...

00:14

How do we solve this problem?

00:16

Well, we just plug in the point on the graph... so when the x intercept is 1, the y coordinate

00:22

has to be 0... and we are at the point 1, 0.

00:26

We can just brute force the answer by plugging in for equation A, here:

00:36

We have 1 squared which is 1... minus 3, which is negative 2... then add 4 to get positive

00:40

2, which... doesn't fit.

00:43

So A is not the droid we're looking for.

00:46

Now B. We have 1 minus 2 plus 1, which is...0.

00:55

There we go -- don't even need to bother with the others.

00:57

B's our boy.
