Character Analysis
Bridie is a young prostitute who was the first girl that Bloom slept with. The novel suggests that it was not a very fruitful encounter. Bridie appears several times. He sees her in the street and avoids her at the end of "Sirens." In "Circe," she is in one of Bloom's dream visions, and she appears frightened of him. In "Eumaeus," Bloom sees her outside the cabman's shelter, and hides behind the day's paper. He comments to Stephen that she looks filthy.
