Prospero

Prospero is the central figure in the play; he sets up all of the action, or at least knows all of it and exerts his influence over the events in some way. He is at turns a noble and merciful character, as well as a spiteful autocrat. Despite interacting differently with different characters, Prospero is the central pivot in the play, as events turn around him.
