Character Analysis
We don't know much about Wendy's parents, who aren't named in the novel. They are divorced and seem to have had a dysfunctional relationship. Wendy's mother blames Wendy for the divorce, but we aren't sure why. Only Wendy's father, now dead, came to her wedding. Wendy has a horrible relationship with her mother and would almost rather stay at the Overlook than move in with her. Her lack of family ties outside of Jack contributes to her isolation and her desire to make Jack's winter job work.
