Character Analysis
The two docile Misses Molyneux are Lord Warburton’s sisters (the name thing is a little confusing – the Warburton name is reserved for the eldest son, who inherits the ancestral estate and title, but the family’s actual last name is Molyneux). Miss Molyneux, the elder, and Mildred, the younger, are both perfect examples of the polite, ideal English woman. They are shocked but quite charmed by Isabel, whose American boldness amazes them.
