Fandoms

Unless you're talking about a franchise that rhymes with Mar Boars, Disney fans are the most passionate bunch of fanboys and fangirls you'll ever meet.

There are Disney Cruises. There are more Disney-themed events than you'd think possible. Pretty much anything you want to buy can be augmented with a smiling Disney character. There's even a dating website exclusively for Disney die-hards—seriously.

But because it was released way back 1940, Pinocchio doesn't rate too high on most modern fans' personal lists. Just think about how many more Aladdin cosplayers you've seen in the last year than Pinocchio ones. That doesn't mean the film isn't still considered a classic, but it's a less integral part of Disney fandom than other, more recent movies.

Pinocchio did affect the fandom in one important way, however—by giving the Walt Disney Company its official theme song. Even if they never see the movie, future Disney fans will be carrying a piece of Pinocchio with them whenever they belt "When You Wish Upon a Star" at the tops of their lungs.
