- Elsewhere in the Citadel, a war boy named Nux is sitting tiredly on a stone bench. He looks worn out and wasted.
- So it's a good thing he's getting a blood transfusion from…you guessed it…Max, who is hanging upside down from a hook, but is still very much alive. (That must explain the tattoos.)
- Nux hears the war drums and knows something big is about to happen.
- All around, war boys are prepping cars, clearly getting ready to go into battle.
- Nux asks what's going on and learns that Imperator Furiosa has taken Immortan Joe's "prize breeders." The war boys are gonna give chase.
- Uh oh, this is big.
- The war boys, clearly motivated by a religious furor and devotion to Immortan Joe, each gather a steering wheel from an altar of sorts beneath the screaming skull symbol.
- As they all zealously chant V-8, we see that each steering wheel is, in fact, decorated with a screaming skull.
- Nux discovers that his "Lancer" has taken his steering wheel, so he tries to grab it from him. His Lancer, whose name is Slit—assumed that Nux wouldn't make the trip because he's so sick, but Nux refuses to stay behind.
- He decides to take his "blood bag"—that would be Max—with him.
- Max doesn't seem pleased.
- Slit calls Max a raging feral, which Nux points out could be a good thing—he's got angry, crazy blood filling up his veins now, thanks to Max.
- Nux wins the argument with, "If I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die historic on the Fury Road." 'Nuff said.
