Miles Halter Timeline and Summary

Before

For his junior year of high school, Miles decides to attend Culver Creek Boarding School in Alabama to seek his own Great
Perhaps. At least, this is what he tells his parents.
Miles arrives at boarding school and meets his roommate, Chip "the Colonel" Martin; he also meets Alaska Young, Takumi Hikohito, and eventually, Lara Buterskaya.
Miles gets thrown into the pond by the Weekday Warriors.
Miles's triple-date with Lara to the Culver Creek basketball game ends poorly because Miles becomes concussed and throws up on Lara's shoes. Stay classy, Miles.
During the prank that the Colonel, Alaska, Miles, Takumi, and Lara plan to get back at the Weekday Warriors, Miles finds out that Alaska's mother died of an aneurysm and that Alaska blames herself.
The day after the prank, Miles and Lara awkwardly get it on; that night Miles also makes out with Alaska and helps her escape campus, even though she's drunk.

Miles finds out that Alaska dies; he throws up. For a while after Alaska's death, he exists in a fog of grief.
Miles agrees with the Colonel to find out if Alaska killed herself. They talk to the cop who was at the scene, figure out how drunk
Alaska was, and talk to her ex-boyfriend Jake. Basically, though, they find out nothing.
Meanwhile Miles totally ignores Lara and Takumi. Some friend.
Finally Miles and the Colonel give up. Miles apologizes to Lara and Takumi and focuses on school.
As he writes his religion final, Miles forgives himself for his responsibility in Alaska's death and knows that she will forgive him.
