Character Analysis
Georgiana Reed, sister of Eliza and John, daughter of Mrs. Reed, and cousin to Jane Eyre, is completely different from her sister. A plump, lovely blonde, Georgiana has plenty of admirers and romances, and would have eloped with a lord if her sister hadn’t ratted her out.
She’s completely selfish, talks only about herself and superficial little details of her life, and doesn’t seem to really understand or even care about her brother’s death and her mother’s illness. Eliza has dismissed happiness and pleasure; Georgiana has dismissed everything else. Together, the two of them represent extreme reactions to the difficult problem of balancing passion and rationality.
