Dickinson didn’t get out much. She went to college for a year, took a few trips to Boston, and once went to Philadelphia and Washington. Other than that, she lived all of her 56 years in her dad’s house. (Source)
When she died, Dickinson left behind more than 800 poems bound up in little hand-sewn books. The order of the poems was changed when they were finally published, and it wasn’t until 1981 that they appeared in their original order. (Source)
