Sex exists in the galaxy, but we never see it happening. We blame the BBC for keeping radio free of sexual images. Would it kill them to show a little skin on the radio? Whatever. Either way, while there's some hint that Arthur had some romantic interest in Trillian when they were at a party on Earth, most of the rest of the book doesn't involve sex. In fact, the two comments acknowledging that sex exists reference the same character, who never appears in this book: Eccentrica Gallumbits, a famous prostitute (6.43, 12.3). But basically, folks, nobody in this part of the galaxy is getting any.
