Character Analysis

Eric is a young man that Esther meets at college when his date stands him up. Like Marco, Eric believes that love is chaste and sexless, and sex is degrading. He tells Esther the story of how he lost his virginity to a prostitute to make his point. Unlike Marco, Eric does not pursue Esther sexually and even writes to tell her that he thinks he might just love her. He compares her to his sister – and Esther understandably rejects his advances.
