Exactly how steamy is this story?
PG
Though there's no sex in the novel, there are lots of dirty jokes. Men see fathering children as important to their manhood. Women are supposed to be virgins when they marry. The competition we observe between Ezeulu's wives, Matefi and Ugoye, is clearly sexual competition. Despite the fact that she is the senior wife, Matefi feels inferior to Ugoye, who is younger and more attractive. Matefi believes that Ezeulu always takes Ugoye's side because she is more sexually desirable. In Arrow of God, sex is more often an underlying tension than an overt act.
