Exactly how steamy is this story?
G
We don't even get a smooch in this novel. Fogg and Aouda are a typical Victorian couple and prefer to keep their feelings tucked away out of sight. Their most epic display of affection is holding hands. So much passion.
Upon declaring their love for each other, Fogg tells Aouda (who has asked him to marry her), "I love you! By all that is holiest, I love you, and I am entirely yours!" (35.22). And that is hands-down the steamiest display in the book.
