Amélie is produced by Claudie Ossard Productions and Union Générale Cinématographique (UGC). Unless you're from France, it's unlikely you'll be familiar with either of the main companies behind the production of Amélie. Claudie Ossard Productions is a small house responsible for only one other film, Jean-Pierre Jeunet's City of Lost Children (Les enfants de la cité perdue). UGC, on the other hand, is a massive French production house, responsible for almost 200 films going back to 1931. Most of them are French, but there are a couple of English-language pictures, like Stealing Beauty (1996), starring Liv Tyler (1996) and eXistenZ (1999), with Jude Law.
