You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so...get on your way!

Context

This line is from the book Oh, the Places You'll Go!, written by Dr. Seuss (1990).

As well as being one of his last, Oh, the Places You'll Go! might be one of Dr. Seuss' most serious and relatable books. It's written in his usual silly rhyming style, but has a lot to say about transitioning into different life stages. There will times in your life when you feel stuck in a place, job, or career. The Waiting Place really stinks.

But then this inspirational line kicks in. No matter our age, we can discover new places, meet new friends, and find new people and things to fall in love with. Sometimes, we'll have to chill out in not the greatest place or situation for a while, but there is always hope of something better.

This line kind of discriminates against people who prefer beaches to mountains though.

Where you've heard it

This line is the lesser-known, yet just as inspirational sibling of some of the other quotes in this book. Like this one: "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose." Or this one: "You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. Some windows are lighted. but mostly they're darked."  But it gets mentioned in the same contexts, like graduation speeches and Pinterest boards.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.
