We think not. This line from The Fault in Our Stars is narrated by Hazel as she's on the plane to Amsterdam with Augustus.
He has already expressed his love for her, and although she hasn't explicitly returned the feeling, watching him read An Imperial Affliction makes her realize that she has slowly been falling for him for a while.
