Context

This famous quote is spoken by Tony Montana, played by Al Pacino, in Scarface (directed by Brian de Palma, 1983).

As you can imagine, being a big-time coke dealer doesn't end well.

When rival drug kingpin Alejandro Sosa decides to take revenge on Tony Montana, Montana is ready to fight back. As Sosa's men gather outside the door, Montana tells them to "say hello to [his] little friend." No, he doesn't mean a Munchkin or an adorable pug; he means a not-so-little grenade launcher. He fires, blowing away the five guys outside. 

Hello, goodbye.

Where you've heard it

Hopefully you haven't heard this line while trying to take down a drug dealer Vice City-style. But you may hear it anytime someone wants to spice up an otherwise boring greeting. 

Just hope they're not packing heat.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

Not necessarily pretentious, but since it implies you're about to unleash some explosive weaponry on a bunch of people, it's probably not a good quote to say in public. Or during a TSA screening.
