Here it is, your moment of Zen.

Context

This quote introduces the Moment of Zen segment at the end of every episode of  The Daily Show (1996 – present).

The Daily Show hasn't always had Jon Stewart, but it's always had the Moment of Zen. Before Jon Stewart's 17-year-term at the news desk, Craig Kilborn introduced the show's final segment, in which a humorous clip is shown.

No one missed Kilborn when he left, but they would have missed the Moment of Zen—so it stuck around.

Jon Stewart delivered a decidedly un-Zen-like Moment of Zen on Feb. 10, 2015 when he announced his final day, but we're pretty sure the Moment of Zen will outlive us all.

Where you've heard it

With Stewart's departure, many people considered his tenure at The Daily Show as a 17-year-long Moment of Zen.

P.S. If you're awake before noon on a Sunday and think the CBS Sunday Morning Moment of Nature is a rip-off of the Moment of Zen, we're here to (calmly, quietly) tell you that you're wrong. The Moment of Zen is inspired by the Moment of Nature, which has been soothing viewers since 1979.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

Whether it's funny, relaxing, or creepy, your moment of Zen is what you want it to be (or what The Daily Show tells you it is).
