Speaker: Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino

We've got a situation.

Context

This line was spoken by Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino in various episodes of Jersey Shore (2009-2012).

The living epitome of the "Gym, Tan, Laundry" philosophy of Jersey Shore was Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino with his cartoonishly huge muscles and gel-filled hair. The Situation was one of the more boisterous Jersey Shore cast members, always getting into physical and verbal squabbles with his cast mates.

But how did an underwear model/fitness instructor get the nickname "The Situation?" We think that he got the moniker because his superpower is causing drama everywhere. However, the name actually came from his ripped six-pack abs, which a fellow beach bum referred to as "the situation."

Where you've heard it

When Jersey Shore was popular, you heard this quote from people, who either admired The Situation for his body and flirting abilities or liked to mock him. It got old after a while, like the show that somehow lasted six seasons.

Additional Notable References:

  • This Gazette Review article gives a recent update on the artist formerly known as The Situation. He has appeared in random TV shows, like Celebrity Big Brother and the short lived ABC sitcom Suburgatory, but has mostly been battling tax evasion charges.
  • In 2011, Abercrombie and Fitch offered The Situation a lot of money to not wear their clothing in the most hilarious non-endorsement incident this century.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

This quote isn't pretentious, but it will give the people around you terrible flashbacks to the early 2010s. You should avoid it like people not on the Jersey Shore avoid sun tan lotion in the winter months.
