A hooptie, a rust bucket, a beater, a jalopy. Basically, a busted-up car.

Metaphorically, you can also use it to mean anything that's unsuccessful or broken down. Like, "Microsoft's Zune was a real clunker" or, injecting a little literary imagination, "That Tom Cruise remake of The Mummy was...clunk-city."
